The Iranian People’s Fedaian Organization (Majority), as it has previously stated, strongly condemns Israel’s military aggression on Iranian soil. Israel attacked Iranian soil at a time when Iran was negotiating with the United States. Such an action is a violation of international norms and a belligerent act aimed at igniting the flames of war in the entire region and is condemned.
We also, with a deep understanding of the current difficult, complex, and dangerous situation, and with a sense of heavy responsibility towards the Iranian people and the fate of the country, strongly warn and express our concerns about the President of the United States of America threats to intervene militarily in this war. Not only are the lives and property of our people being harmed and destroyed by the continuous Israeli bombings, but an attack on nuclear facilities is against all international protocols and could lead to irreparable environmental catastrophes on a large scale, the destructive effects of which will extend to areas outside the geographical boundaries of Iran.
We firmly emphasize that no military solution will be just and sustainable, either for Iran or for the region. War and destruction are the precursors to further injustice and suffering for the people. The only way out of this crisis is to prevent further escalation of the war, to move beyond violence and return to diplomacy, dialogue, and adherence to human rights and sustainable peace.
Accordingly, we urge the United States government and the authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran, realizing their human and moral responsibility towards the defenseless people, to immediately and without any preconditions return to the negotiations that have been suspended as a result of Israel’s aggression against Iran, and to embark on a path of direct, transparent, and constructive negotiations to resolve the differences.
We call on the United Nations not to remain silent in its duty to prevent further killings in Iran and the region and to take the necessary measures to extinguish the flames of war. We expect the international community to speak with a single and decisive voice to stop the war, establish an immediate ceasefire, and return to rationality and diplomacy.
In these critical circumstances, the Islamic Republic is obliged to rely on its people, think about national unity, and provide an atmosphere for dialogue, reconciliation, and national solidarity. The immediate release of prisoners of conscience and an end to the detention of the former political figures is a necessary step to rebuild public trust and begin a national dialogue. Iran’s strong civil society and trade unions have repeatedly shown that they can be very influential at critical times. It is the government’s duty to trust civil society activists and open their hands to help the people. Our compatriots need empathy and trust more than anything else, and providing these conditions is one of the government’s primary duties.
At the same time, we warn that in the current unstable and dangerous circumstances, the Islamic Republic is directly responsible for protecting the lives and health of all prisoners, especially political prisoners. While many people are trying to reach safe places, prisoners and many people in our country’s major cities are deprived of such a possibility for various reasons and their lives are seriously at risk. Any failure to protect them is unacceptable and contrary to the human and legal responsibilities of the government.
We deeply believe that saving Iran and passing through this dangerous turn is only possible through the path of peace, national reconciliation, open dialogue, and the participation of all sympathetic forces inside and outside the country. Now is the time for big, courageous, and responsible decisions.
