Stop the war against Iran!

IWe demand an immediate halt to the bombings, as well as an end to reciprocal missile attacks, a complete and unconditional ceasefire on all fronts, and the immediate start of direct, comprehensive, and purposeful negotiations between the parties involved, including representatives of Iran and the United States. These negotiations, which are undeniably necessary, must continue until a lasting agreement is reached and lead to the establishment of objective and executive guarantees to prevent the recurrence of aggression, preserve and protect Iran’s national sovereignty, and preserve Iran’s territorial integrity.

The Political-Executive Committee of the Organization of Peoples Fadaian of Iran(Majority):

The aggression by the United States and Israel against our country, which began on February 28, has now entered its third week and has increasingly taken on broader humanitarian, economic, and infrastructural dimensions. The Western side that imposed this war on Iran, especially the US President and his cabinet, entered the conflict with the idea that the war would last no more than two or three days and that a “miraculous victory” would be achieved by the uprising of the people against the Islamic Republic. However, not only has a quick and decisive outcome not been achieved, but the scope of the conflict has expanded and the human and material costs have increased significantly.

The developments in Syria and Iraq over the past two decades, along with the published strategic documents and plans, provide a clear picture of a broader geopolitical design: a map in which “Greater Israel” is placed alongside a series of smaller states divided along ethno-national lines. This pattern suggests that Israel’s regional policies are not a short-term reaction, but part of a long-term strategy to redesign the power structure in the Middle East. This approach is not limited to the era of the Islamic Republic; During the previous Iranian regime, the then king had also repeatedly warned of such plans.

In the past three weeks, according to claims by the United States and Israel, several thousand targets inside Iran have been bombed by Israeli aircraft and American missiles. These attacks, which initially targeted mainly military and security centers, have now entered a phase that includes the destruction of infrastructure, ports, airports, critical electricity and energy facilities, refineries, medical and educational centers, museums, homes, business premises and other vital infrastructure of the country.

Regarding human casualties, the published statistics do not reflect the true dimensions of the disaster. Official Iranian reports indicate that thousands of people have been killed, but the extent of the attacks and the volume of destruction indicate that the real number of victims is much higher.

On the other hand, Iran’s military responses have also caused damage and casualties on the other side. However, due to severe information restrictions, on the one hand, the Israeli Ministry of Defense’s censorship of war news, on the other hand, the Pentagon’s complete control over the release of battlefield information, an accurate picture of the extent of damage and casualties is not available. Despite these restrictions, scattered reports indicate that dozens of American soldiers are likely among the dead and hundreds are on the wounded list.

However, the United Nations, under its current leadership and in light of the complete disregard of the international legal systems by the governments of the United States and Israel, has so far taken no effective action to stop this war. In a surprising move, the UN Security Council even passed a resolution against Iran at the request of Bahrain, without naming the governments that initiated the attack and aggression. This approach is not only incompatible with the principles of impartiality and justice in the international system, but also further questions the credibility of multilateral mechanisms.

In light of what has been said, it is clear that Iran does not enjoy any effective international support in this crisis and has only been faced with the verbal positions of countries such as Russia and China; countries that even in the recent Security Council vote, abstained from supporting the Bahraini-proposed resolution due to their economic considerations and commercial interests in the Persian Gulf countries.

On the ground level, the realities also show that Iran’s capacity to continue the conflict is not unlimited. In addition to the massive human losses, the war has inflicted and continues to inflict heavy damage on the country’s infrastructure; damage that is becoming increasingly difficult to repair and in some areas seems practically impossible from an economic perspective. Continuing this trend will not only erode the country’s vital capacities, but its long-term consequences could affect economic and social structures for years to come.

According to statements by US and Israeli officials, these attacks have been justified under the principle of “self-defense,” a claim that is in fact a clear, grave, and complete violation of the principle of prohibition of the use of force enshrined in Article 2, paragraph 4, of the UN Charter. Such a justification not only lacks any valid legal basis, but is also in complete conflict with the accepted standards for interpreting Article 51 of the Charter and cannot legitimize a preemptive attack or an aggressive act in the form of self-defense.

From perspective of The rules-based international order (RBIO), and given that Iran was attacked in the Twelve-Day War as well as in the current conflict without justifiable reasons and in violation of the fundamental principles of international law, the rules governing the international responsibility of States, including the “Draft Articles on the Responsibility of States for Internationally Wrongful Acts” adopted by the International Law Commission (2001), grant Iran the right to bring claims against belligerent States and to take action to obtain full compensation for the damages caused by their unlawful actions. The basis of this right is rooted in the Hague Conventions and established principles of public international law and is part of the binding structure of the responsibility of States for serious violations of the Charter.

The Organization of the People’s Fadaian of Iran (Majority) has always emphasized the necessity of resolving crises through diplomatic channels and has explicitly condemned this imperialist aggression against the country from the very first moments of the bombings. We demand an immediate cessation of the bombings as well as an end to reciprocal missile attacks, a complete and unconditional ceasefire on all fronts, and the immediate start of direct, comprehensive and purposeful negotiations between the parties to the conflict, including representatives of Iran and the United States of America.

These negotiations, which are undeniably necessary, must continue until a lasting agreement is reached and lead to the creation of objective and executive guarantees to prevent the recurrence of aggression, to preserve and protect Iran’s national sovereignty and to preserve its territorial integrity.
