Dear free compatriots!
For two weeks, after decades of protests and uprising, frustrated people of Iran have once again taken to the streets, loudly protesting against political oppression, discrimination, inequality, and organized plunder by a centralized and unaccountable power. This widespread presence is not a temporary reaction, but a historic cry for the right to live in a free and prosperous Iran, with human dignity, legal equality, and social justice and welfare; a right that has been the focus of the Iranian people’s struggles for more than a century.
Today, Iran is in the midst of a deep, complex, and multifaceted crisis, facing various hostile fronts. On the one hand, the mafia-like security core of power, led by the Supreme Leader, seeks to maintain political control and keep its dominance by constantly relying on violence and attributing popular protests to a “foreign conspiracy.” On the other hand, foreign powers, especially the United States and Israel, seek to destabilize and weaken Iran through overt and covert plans and conspiracies. At the same time, authoritarian, far-right movements affiliated with Iran’s enemies, among the opponents of the Islamic Republic, are trying to seize the legitimate protests of society and turn them into a tool to return to power and reproduce tyranny. The result of the actions of all three fronts is pushing our homeland towards collapse and ruin.
The Leader of the Islamic Republic, aware of the fate of tyrants such as the Pahlavi Shahs, continues to turn a blind eye to the people’s legitimate demands and speaks only in terms of repression, imprisonment, and violence. On the other hand, the call for reciprocal violence by representatives of the deposed tyranny is also the flip side of the same destructive cycle for which the people pay the price. Both sides of this dual tyranny, like Iran’s foreign enemies, know very well that the continuation of peaceful, demand-oriented, and nonviolent protests, if successful, can block their path to remaining in power or returning to it by institutionalizing freedom, social justice, and prosperity.
We, the People’s Fadaian of Iran, consider all three of these fronts to be in clear conflict with the interests of Iranian people and the country. We, along with all progressive forces in Iran, believe that the formation of a unified social movement around clear and specific demands, in conjunction with the pluralistic and decentralized organization of peaceful protests, can lead to more significant victories for the people and a more effective confrontation with the fronts of tyranny. Iran’s conscious civil society interconnected social movements, and popular and political forces have repeatedly shown that they have the ability to wisely resist the violence that all three enemy fronts of the people reproduce; and each time they return stronger than before.
In a situation where institutions under the command of the leader of the regime and the hidden and open holders of power are suppressing and killing the people and have never been held accountable, the executive branch is faced with a historic choice; Either it should consider itself merely an executor of the Supreme Leader’s orders, or it should stand by the people and, by pushing back the hard core of power and withdrawing security and military forces from the streets, prevent the continuation of the killing and the imposition of heavier costs on the country.
A government that considers itself committed to the people, if it is at least somewhat responsible and faithful to its promises, can and must take action to release political prisoners, enable civil society organizations to operate freely, and recognize the people’s right to self-determination, paving the way for structural and fundamental changes at the least cost to the people and the country; and if this resistance is not possible, it should refrain from participating in human rights violations and step aside.
In the course of the popular struggles of the past years, central asks and demands have crystallized, and the struggle to realize them and to exert organized pressure on the government in this regard will pave the way for a peaceful transition and create conditions for overcoming the current super-crisis, and for the people to accept their right to determine their own destiny. We believe that the following demands are among these demands:
- Freedom of peaceful struggles, protests, and gatherings and an end to their repression;
- The unconditional release of those arrested in recent protests and political, social, and ideological prisoners and lifting the home arrest of the leaders of the Green Movement;
- Freedom of activity of civil society institutions, patriotic political parties and organizations;
- Free, early and proportional parliamentary elections, along with the abolition of discretionary supervision in order to pave the way for constitutional reforms;
- Releasing military, law enforcement and media institutions from subordination to the Supreme Leader;
- Handing over the management of state media to a council consisting of representatives of independent civil society institutions
- Withdrawing military and security institutions from politics, economy, media and financial monopolies
The Organization of the People’s Fadaian of Iran (Majority), is an organization that calls for a peaceful transition from the Islamic Republic to a republic based on freedom, universal human rights, democracy, equality, and social justice. We once again declare our readiness and determination for any possible level of cooperation with all forces, organizations, and political and social figures who are committed to the prosperity and freedom of the people and land of Iran. We are, among other things, ready to cooperate in fulfilling the aforementioned demands and similar ones, and we will spare no effort in this regard.
